Description:

Topology, transmission and cross-connect in optical transmission network. Transmission limitations: linear and non-linear propagation. Network protection and restoration in the case of failures. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and photonic components. Function and structure of optical cross-connect and add&drop multiplexer. Optimal wavelength assignment and routing. Network availability analysis. Optical circuit, burst and packet switching. Control plane.
