All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Description:

Introduction to microwave remote sensing. Defition of radiometric quantities. Electromagnetic wave propagation. Quantum theory of radiation and Planck's blackbody radiation law. Antenna radiometric temperature and apparent brightness temperature. Antenna parameters: radiation pattern, polarisation, impedance, directivity and gain, antenna efficiency, effective aperture. Antennas for remote sensing. Reflector antennas, antenna arrays and synthetic apertures. Radio telescopic antennas. Effective noise temperature and noise figure of the receiver. Noise bandwidth. Noise figure and effective temperature measurement. Atmospheric and terrain brightness temperature. Radiometric systems. Radiometer design and calibration. Radiometric applications.
