Odjel za komunikacije

Odjel za komunikacije obuhvaća znanost, tehnologiju i aplikacije koje podržavaju prijenos i organizaciju informacija različitih vrsta medija i formata kroz komunikacijske mreže i kanale. Navedeno može uključivati:

  • Arhitekturu, kontrolu, upravljanje, učinkovitost i primjene elektroničkih, optičkih i bežičnih komunikacijskih mreža;
  • Tehnologije i servisi za postojeće mreže i mreže u nastajanju te Internet;
  • Teorije i metode modulacije, detekcije, kodiranja i signalizacije kroz kanale, oblikovanje i vođenje mreža s komutacijom paketa i mreža s komutacijom kanala;
  • Sustave za komutiranje i usmjeravanje;
  • Komunikacijske protokole, programsku podršku i programe koji djeluju između aplikacije i mreže;
  • Metode za postizanje kvalitete i pouzdanosti usluge;
  • Komunikacijske sposobnosti terminala, uređaja i informacijskih sustava;
  • Komunikacijske standarde i specifikacije;
  • Utjecaj komunikacijskih tehnologija na društvo i pojedinca.

Web sjedište matičnog društva IEEE Communications Society je www.comsoc.org.

Trenutačno postoji jedan studentski ogranak Odjela za komunikacije, pridružen Studentskom ogranku Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.

Sažetak:

5G wireless networks are expected to provide ubiquitous network access at very high-data rates and extremely low latencies in order to meet very high requirements of emerging services. They will enable a high level of digitalization, transformation of the industry, machine-to-machine communication, and many other innovative commercial, industrial and private applications. Both emerging services and current developments in radio access networks will have a considerable impact on the wireless backhaul and transport networks, forcing them to evolve towards more scalable, flexible and efficient architectures. In order to optimally support the emerging applications and a rapid development of 5G wireless networks, future optical networks, which we refer here to as 5G optical transport networks, should be able to provide rapid and on-demand provisioning of high data rates in a flexible and efficient manner. In this talk, we will highlight the current trends and identify the main requirements for planning and implementation of high-capacity and flexible 5G optical transport networks.

Biografija:

Slavisa Aleksic received both Dipl-Ing. (M.Sc.) and Dr. techn. (Ph.D.) degrees from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria in 1999 and 2004, respectively. Currently, he is Professor at the Leipzig University of Telecommunications, Germany, where he is responsible for teaching and research within the broad area of telecommunication technologies and networks with emphasis on network design, management, and performance evaluation. Between 1998 and 2015 he was working at the Vienna University of Technology in different positions and with several institutes. He also worked for several companies such as Unioninvest, Unis-Unidata, and Steinbeis Temming.

 Slavisa Aleksic is author or co-author of more than 120 scientific publications including book chapters, papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and contributions to international recognized conferences. He has been involved in a number of projects related to communication systems and networks including projects funded by the European Union (FP6 and FP7), the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and in collaboration with several companies.

 Dr. Aleksic is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a member of the OVE, the MRS and the IEICE. He serves as a reviewer of numerous reputed journals and book series published by e.g. IEEE, EURASIP, OSA, ELSEVIER, SPRINGER, TAYLOR & FRANCIS and a member of the Technical Programme Committee of a dozen of international conferences (IEEE, IFIP, IEE, OSA, IAIRA). He received several international and national awards and grants such as four best paper awards, the biggest Austrian business plan award i2b (second level), the grant of the Open Society Institute, and the grant of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture.
