Odjel za komunikacije

Odjel za komunikacije obuhvaća znanost, tehnologiju i aplikacije koje podržavaju prijenos i organizaciju informacija različitih vrsta medija i formata kroz komunikacijske mreže i kanale. Navedeno može uključivati:

  • Arhitekturu, kontrolu, upravljanje, učinkovitost i primjene elektroničkih, optičkih i bežičnih komunikacijskih mreža;
  • Tehnologije i servisi za postojeće mreže i mreže u nastajanju te Internet;
  • Teorije i metode modulacije, detekcije, kodiranja i signalizacije kroz kanale, oblikovanje i vođenje mreža s komutacijom paketa i mreža s komutacijom kanala;
  • Sustave za komutiranje i usmjeravanje;
  • Komunikacijske protokole, programsku podršku i programe koji djeluju između aplikacije i mreže;
  • Metode za postizanje kvalitete i pouzdanosti usluge;
  • Komunikacijske sposobnosti terminala, uređaja i informacijskih sustava;
  • Komunikacijske standarde i specifikacije;
  • Utjecaj komunikacijskih tehnologija na društvo i pojedinca.

Web sjedište matičnog društva IEEE Communications Society je www.comsoc.org.

Trenutačno postoji jedan studentski ogranak Odjela za komunikacije, pridružen Studentskom ogranku Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.

Predavanje "Emerging Wireless...

IEEE Communication Society Croatia Chapter i Zavoda za telekomunikacije pozivaju Vas na predavanje Javana Erfaniana, Toronto, Canada, Distinguished Lecturer, IEEE Communications Society, s temom:

Emerging Wireless Services, Technologies & Research

Predavanje će se održati u petak, 3. rujna 2010. u 9 sati u Sivoj vijećnici FER-a.

Predavanje će biti na engleskom jeziku. Predavanje je otvoreno za sve zainteresirane, a posebno pozivamo studente! Sažetak i biografiju predavača pročitajte u nastavku obavijesti.

Sažetak predavanja:

This talk provides an end to end perspective on wireless technology evolution and focuses on emerging and future new mobile service and device environment, along with underlying architecture, IMS, and IP network evolution. The key technologies & technology themes to enable the new paradigms (social networking, mobile workforce, mobile ads & transactions, Machine-to-Machine, multi-cell / heterogeneous, others) are outlined. The end user’s dynamic, personalized, adaptive and reconfigurable communication space is mapped to how the technologies, standards, global ecosystem, & operational excellence guide or respond to this evolution. In this formulation, key areas and issues in research are highlighted. The talk is interactive to address the key relevant questions, across the end-to-end space, in short, mid, and long term vision of the future.

Kratka biografija:

Javan Erfanian has been involved in telecommunications research and industry for the past 20 years. He did his education at the University of Calgary and the University of Toronto in Canada. His publications are cited in research journals and textbooks. His recent contributions to research forums & standards bodies have focused on future wireless technologies from service environment and user interaction to next-generation networks, spectrum, and operational excellence. In addition to being a speaker, Javan has taught many academic and industry courses and programs, particularly on Communications and Radio Systems at the University of Toronto.

In his IEEE involvement, Javan was Chair of IEEE Communications Society in Toronto in 1995-1999. He was the Canadian correspondent for IEEE Communications Magazine in late 90s. He received an IEEE Millennium Medal in 2000, and has been an IEEE Communications Society distinguished  lecturer for years. He is also an editor and author for the Wireless Engineering Book of Knowledge (WEBOK) and a member of IEEE WCET Industry Advisory Board.

In his professional career, Javan is currently Distinguished Member of Technology - Wireless Technology Strategy, at Bell Mobility in Canada.
