Odjel za komunikacije

Odjel za komunikacije obuhvaća znanost, tehnologiju i aplikacije koje podržavaju prijenos i organizaciju informacija različitih vrsta medija i formata kroz komunikacijske mreže i kanale. Navedeno može uključivati:

  • Arhitekturu, kontrolu, upravljanje, učinkovitost i primjene elektroničkih, optičkih i bežičnih komunikacijskih mreža;
  • Tehnologije i servisi za postojeće mreže i mreže u nastajanju te Internet;
  • Teorije i metode modulacije, detekcije, kodiranja i signalizacije kroz kanale, oblikovanje i vođenje mreža s komutacijom paketa i mreža s komutacijom kanala;
  • Sustave za komutiranje i usmjeravanje;
  • Komunikacijske protokole, programsku podršku i programe koji djeluju između aplikacije i mreže;
  • Metode za postizanje kvalitete i pouzdanosti usluge;
  • Komunikacijske sposobnosti terminala, uređaja i informacijskih sustava;
  • Komunikacijske standarde i specifikacije;

NON-TECHNICAL CHALLENGES IN SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
Jack Järkvik
Vice President R&D Ericsson Sweden

Predavanje će se održati u četvrtak 7. prosinca u 15 sati u Bijeloj vijećnici Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, Unska 3, Zagreb.

Development of large complex systems is something that is not only vital for a telecom firm like Ericsson. In several other industries this is equally important. Among the challenges often referred to are mastering new technologies, new methods and tools and correctly forecasting the cost and lead time of each undertaking to be able to deliver in accordance with promises made to customers. Several procedures for risk analysis are used and they help in dealing with the risks we encounter when dealing with the unknown such as developing new systems or features. Largely all these areas deal with the development work as if it was being carried out by machines and not by human beings.

Based on a long experience from turning around crisis development projects I will discuss some challenges that deal more with the human aspects of development work. That contains both what risks are caused by the fact that humans do all the work and what opportunities that means. Still I do not call these aspects the soft side of system development. These are the really hard aspects. I will present a few approaches we have been using to succeed when in trouble and to avoid ending up in trouble.

O predavaču:

Jack Järkvik holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg and an MBA from Gothenburg University plus an MSc in The Management of Technology from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, Cambridge. He has been employed at Ericsson for seventeen years and has run his own consulting firm for eleven years. He
has written an Ericsson publication called “A bit of luck helps – On succeeding” that has had wide circulation outside Ericsson. Since 1979 he has dealt with system development both in line and project management roles. He is well known in Ericsson for his successful involvement in several large critical development projects and for inventing and introducing several different ways of working such as Anatomy, Systemakut and Lagomising.

Predavanje je otvoreno za sve zainteresirane!
