Odjel za energetsku elektroniku se bavi poluvodičkim energetskim pretvaračima, njihovim upravljanjem i regulacijom te poluvodičkim komponentama ovih pretvarača. Pri tome se koriste analitičke metode, eksperimentalne metode te simulacijski alati.

U utorak, 2. studenoga 2010. u 13 sati održat će se u Sivoj vijećnici predavanje prof.dr.sc. Vladimira Blaška pod nazivom
"Control Methods and Selective Harmonic Elimination in Grid Tied Power Converters".
Prof.dr.sc. Vladimir Blaško vodi istraživački tim za učinsku elektroniku na United Technologies Research Center, E. Hartford, CT, USA. Osim o navedenoj temi u naslovu, bit će riječi i o širim istraživačkim naporima na UTRC-u, kao što su istraživanja tehnologije na području obnovljivih izvora energije, mikromreža i energetski efikasnih zgrada. Predavanje organiziraju: Odjel za industrijsku i energetsku elektroniku IEEE Hrvatska, KoREMA - Hrvatsko društvo za komunikacije, računarstvo, elektroniku, mjerenja i automatiku, Zavod za automatiku i računalno inženjerstvo te Zavod za elektrostrojarstvo i automatizaciju FER-a. Dr. Vladimir Blasko, received B.Sc., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 1976, 1982 and 1986, respectively all in electrical engineering. During the academic year 1988-1989 as the recipient of IREX scholarship, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
From 1976 to 1988, he was with the Electro-Technical Institute of Koncar Company, Zagreb, in the Power Electronics and Automatic Control Department. Form 1989 to 1992 and from 2000 to 2007 he was with Research and Development Center of Otis Elevator Company, Farmington, CT. From 1992 to 2000, he worked for Rockwell Automation Allen Bradley Company, Mequon, WI in Advanced Drives Development.
Currently, Dr. Blasko is UTRC fellow and the leader of Power Electronics group at the United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) in E. Hartford, CT. Dr. Blasko has long industrial experience in research and development in power electronics and electrical drives.
His primary areas of interest are modern ac drives, power electronics, intelligent power management, and applied modern control theory and technology.
Dr. Blasko is IEEE Fellow, member of Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering and Adjunct Professor at University of Wisconsin – Madison and at University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing.
