Industrial Source Code Quality Assurance at Google

Abstract
Google is one of the world's most innovative IT companies. Operating at the global scale, the stability and quality of Google's software services are often lauded as remarkable. In this lecture, several questions are addressed: How does Google maintain quality of code that is being worked on by thousands of engineers daily? What is the Google approach to quality of products used by billions of people per day? What technologies and practices have proven themselves in practice, and how?
In the first part of the lecture, an overview of the development process, with a focus on source code quality and software testing practices will be given. Several case studies with clear benefits of technologies and practices will be discussed. In the second part of the lecture, we will focus on software product quality and methods to tie the results of product tests back to the source code.
Short biography:
Marko Ivanković received his M.Sc. from Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Zagreb where his supervisor was Siniša Srblji ć, Ph.D. He currently works at Google as a Software Engineer in Test at their Zurich office, as a member of the engineering productivity team of the shopping product area. His work is focused on enabling developers to easily test the code they write and maintain code quality through automation and adoption of best practices. He is a life-long participant of various competitions, winner of the silver medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2006 in Mexico. He has a long record of participating in the organization of Croatian competitions and has given lectures at many schools and tutored numerous competitors..
