"Integral equations for antenna arrays and metasurfaces"

koje će održati Prof. Christophe Craeye, PhD, Université catholique de Leuven (UCLouvain), Leuven-la-Neuve, Belgija.

Predavanje će se održati u srijedu 16. srpnja 2025. godine u 13:00 sati u Seminaru 2-19  (2. kat) Sveučilišta u Zagrebu Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva, Banjavčićeva 1a, Zagreb.

Predviđeno trajanje predavanja s pitanjima i diskusijom je 60 minuta. Predavanje je otvoreno za sve zainteresirane, a posebno pozivamo studente.

Sažetak predavanja i životopis predavača su dostupni u opširnijoj obavijesti.

Summary:
Antenna arrays should be designed while taking into account mutual coupling. Furthermore, mutual coupling may be viewed as the essence of functioning of metasurfaces. This calls for efficient numerical methods. In this talk, integral-equation approaches will be highlighted, given their capability to limit the unknowns to interfaces between homogenous media, or even to metallic inclusions, if appropriate Green's functions are used. The talk will briefly remind the principles of such methods and present a number of accelerations. Finally, a path toward integral-equation based design tools will be presented.

Biography:

Christophe Craeye was born in Belgium, in 1971. He received the master’s degree in electrical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in applied sciences from the Université catholique de Leuven (UCLouvain), Leuven-la-Neuve, Belgium, in 1994 and 1998, respectively. His Ph.D. was carried out in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administraion (NASA), Washington, DC, USA, and the European Space Agency (ESA), Paris, France.

From 1999 to 2001, he was a Post-Doctoral Researcher with Eindhoven University of Technology, Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Since 1999, he has been with the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA. Since 2001, he has been with The Netherlands Institute for Research in Astronomy, Dwingeloo, The Netherlands. Since 2002, he has been started an antenna research activity with UCLouvain, Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, where he is currently a Professor. Since 2011, he has been with the Astrophysics and Detectors Group, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K. His research is funded by the Région Wallonne, the European Commission, ESA, the Fonds National de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS), and UCLouvain. His current research interests include mutual coupling, finite antenna arrays, wideband antennas, small antennas, metasurfaces, and numerical methods for fields in periodic media, with applications to communication and sensing systems.
