Meshroom: An Open-Source, Flexible, and Generic 3D Reconstruction Pipeline

u sklopu Radionice o 3D skeniranju. Jezik predavanja je engleski, a predviđeno trajanje je do 45 minuta nakon čega slijedi rasprava. Predavanje je otvoreno za sve zainteresirane, a posebno pozivamo studente.

Meshroom is free, open-source software that provides a photogrammetry pipeline for reconstructing 3D scenes from a set of unordered images. It includes other pipelines for fusing multiple low dynamic range images into high dynamic range images, stitching multiple images into a panorama, and estimating the motion of a moving camera. The talk will include a general presentation of the software with the focus on the photogrammetry pipeline and its main features. Selected research projects based on Meshroom will be presented, ranging from augmented reality for laparoscopic surgery to quality assessment of 3D reconstructions. Finally, features currently under development that will allow researchers to conveniently run any kind of pipeline and easily compare the results of different reconstruction methods will be presented, thus promoting the sharing and reproducibility of results.
Simone Gasparini is an Assistant Professor at Institut National Politechnique de Toulouse since 2013. He received the Laurea degree in computer engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2003 with a thesis in the field of Robot Mapping. He then received the Ph.D. degree in Information Technology at Politecnico di Milano in 2007 with a thesis on 3D reconstruction from single images with omnidirectional cameras. He spent 4 years with the PERCEPTION group at INRIA Grenoble - Rhone-Alpes in Grenoble (FRA) where he mainly worked on geometrical aspects of computer vision, such as calibration, real-time structure-from-motion and general camera models.
