Abstract: All electronics devices must meet minimum performance requirements developed by standardization bodies like IEC, CISPR, FCC and others which have been adopted into the lows of most countries. In this presentation we will explain the EMC Basics on a layout and component level. Some components can play a part in attenuating unwanted signals (Ferrite beads, line inductors, common mode chokes, X and Y caps...). Online tools like Würth Elektronik’s REDEXPERT Filter Design tool helps you to select the right components by calculating and plotting the expected response based on real component characteristics and parasitics.
Biography: Tomo Koželjnik is currently employed at Würth elektronik eiSos Slovenia as an Application engineer for EMI situations with over 15 year experience in EMC. After his employment at Higher Professional Collage where he gained lecturing experience he joined one of the biggest White Goods sector company in Slovenia where he worked as a Lead Electronics Design Engineer. In that period he was also a member of the SIST/TC EMC technical committee.
