Odjel za električne krugove i sustave bavi se teorijom, analizom, oblikovanjem (računalno potpomognuto oblikovanje), praktičnom primjenom krugova i primjena teoretskih metoda analize krugova na sustave i obradu signala. Ovo područje pokriva čitav niz aktivnosti od osnovne znanstvene teorije do industrijskih primjena.

"3D Imaging Sensors for Automated Driving: The Semiconductor Challenges"

koje će održati dr. sc. Vjekoslav Matić iz tvrtke Infineon Technologies Austria AG u četvrtak, 11. travnja 2019. u 14.00 sati, u Sivoj vijećnici Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, Unska 3, Zagreb.

Predavanje je na hrvatskom jeziku (uz slajdove na engleskom), a predviđeno trajanje s raspravom je 1,5 h. Predavanje je otvoreno za sve zainteresirane, a posebno pozivamo studente.

Sažetak predavanja:

Autonomous driving is a new megatrend transforming heavily not just the automotive industry. The environment sensing and computing are two major enabling functions of autonomous vehicles, both - in turn - enabled by recent availability of highly integrated high-performance semiconductors and a lot of software developed upon novel technologies like machine vision and deep learning. A robocar must be able to “see and understand” the environment and to anticipate the behavior of other road users in order to drive safely. The features and functions, but also physical limitations and design constraints of imaging and ranging sensors define the cornerstones of operational safety of such vehicles. We will explore in a bottom-up manner a few ranging sensor technologies such as Radar, LIDAR and PMD Time-of-flight and close the bridge between the under-the-hood semiconductor components and the perception system performance.

Biografija predavača:

Dr Vjekoslav Matic is the director of application and system engineering for  automated driving sensors at the Automotive Division of Infineon Technologies. He heads an engineering team responsible for system & semiconductor product definition and customer design-in support for Radar, LIDAR, and Time-of-Flight sensors in automotive and industrial applications, including signal processing and software development. Before that he was head of application engineering for Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems and Wireless Control product lines for five years and program manager for automotive Remote Keyless Entry RF-CMOS transmitters, receivers, and transceivers for 7 years. His technical background in system engineering, digital terrestrial and satellite communications, and signal processing on mixed-signal automotive ASICs was developed also during four years he spent at Dialog Semiconductor, six years at Joanneum Research in Graz and four years at the University of Zagreb, working as engineer and researcher on R&D projects with industrial partners and European Space Agency. This technical background provides him inspiration for novel concepts and new ideas. Dr Matic is a member of IEEE and holds an MS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and a PhD from Graz University of Technology, Austria.
