OceanRINGS: Smart Technologies for Subsea Operations - System Concept & Applications

koje će dr.sc. Edin Omerdić, Senior Reseach Fellow u Mobile & Marine Robotics Research Centre, University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland, održati u srijedu, 20.06.2012., u Sivoj vijećnici FERa, s početkom u 14 sati.

Biografija predavača i sažetak predavanja nalaze se u nastavku vijesti.

Abstract:

The OceanRINGS is a set of smart technologies, designed for existing and next generation Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), which increase the level of automation, make ROV operations easier & more efficient, and save expensive ship time by 20% or more. ROV LATIS is a next generation smart ROV, designed as a prototype platform to demonstrate OceanRINGS validity & operability and to prove smart technologies developed in the Mobile and Marine Robotics Research Centre, UL. System validation and technology demonstration was performed through a series of test trials with different support vessels off the west coast of Ireland. The presentation will explain system concept, including design of control system in Virtual Environment and selected results of the most recent field trials in Real-World Environment. Research outcomes are applicable to the growing international off-shore oil and gas sector, and also for future deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of ocean energy devices (in particular - wave energy converters and tidal turbines).

About the Presenter:

Edin Omerdic received the Dipl. Eng. and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, in 1997 and 2001 respectively, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wales, Newport, United Kingdom in 2004. He is currently a Senior Research Fellow for Ocean System Modelling, Charles Parsons Initiative, at the Mobile & Marine Robotics Research Centre, University of Limerick, Ireland.

His research interests include modelling & simulation of dynamic systems (ocean energy devices, marine platforms, ocean dynamics & disturbances), real-time simulators, virtual reality, development and design of guidance, navigation and control system for marine vessels, nonlinear control systems, implementation of soft-computing techniques in intelligent systems, underwater robotics and fault-tolerant systems.
