Odjel za robotiku i automatizaciju

Ovaj odjel zanima se za teme iz područja teorije i primjene robotike i automatizacije. Pod robotikom se ovdje prvenstveno podrazumijeva zanimanje za inteligentne strojeve i sustave korištene, na primjer, u istraživanju okoliša (podmorja, svemira), pružanju usluga ljudima, ili u naprednoj proizvodnji. Pod automatizacijom se prvenstveno podrazumijeva zanimanje za primjenu automatizacijskih metoda i postupaka u tvornicama, uredima, kućanstvima ili, na primjer, u transportnim sustavima s ciljem povećanja njihove djelotvornosti i produktivnosti.

Sažetak:

Prof. Lofaro will show the evolution of the Hubo Humanoid Robot from a research platform to a DARPA Robot Challenge (DRC) ready system via the use of a Three Phase Design Cycle. Benefits and challenges of working with multiple research groups, and the impact it has on becoming a competitive DRC team will be discussed. Finally recommendations for software and social methods to be used when working with medium size research groups will be given. Životopis:

Daniel M. Lofaro is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and Director of the Lofaro Labs at George Mason University. An NSF-EAPSI Fellow, he received his doctorate from the ECE Department at Drexel University in 2013 while a researcher at the Drexel Autonomous Systems Lab (DASL). From 2012-2013 he was the Research Lead of the DARPA Robotic Challenge team DRC-Hubo. His research interests include Complex Control Systems and Robotics with most recent ventures relating to Robot Design and Cloud Robotics.
