Odjel za komunikacije

Odjel za komunikacije obuhvaća znanost, tehnologiju i aplikacije koje podržavaju prijenos i organizaciju informacija različitih vrsta medija i formata kroz komunikacijske mreže i kanale. Navedeno može uključivati:

  • Arhitekturu, kontrolu, upravljanje, učinkovitost i primjene elektroničkih, optičkih i bežičnih komunikacijskih mreža;
  • Tehnologije i servisi za postojeće mreže i mreže u nastajanju te Internet;
  • Teorije i metode modulacije, detekcije, kodiranja i signalizacije kroz kanale, oblikovanje i vođenje mreža s komutacijom paketa i mreža s komutacijom kanala;
  • Sustave za komutiranje i usmjeravanje;
  • Komunikacijske protokole, programsku podršku i programe koji djeluju između aplikacije i mreže;
  • Metode za postizanje kvalitete i pouzdanosti usluge;
  • Komunikacijske sposobnosti terminala, uređaja i informacijskih sustava;
  • Komunikacijske standarde i specifikacije;

Wearable Internet of Things: Extending personal devices with Internet capabilities, a practical vision in Smart Cities and Environments

Predavanje će održati Prof. Antonio J. Jara University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO), Švicarska, u petak 20. veljače 2015. godine s početkom u 16:00 u dvorani Sivoj vijećnici Fakulteta elektrotehnike i računarstva. Jezik predavanja je engleski, a predvidio trajanje izlaganja 45 minuta. Predavanje je otvoreno za sve zainteresirane, a posebno pozivamo studente preddiplomskog i diplomskog studija!

Sažetak predavanja i životopis predavača nalaze se u nastavku obavijesti.

Sažetak:

The proposed extension of the Internet of Things to Wearable Computing is making feasible the development of a new generation of Wearable devices connected to Internet. It is what I have denominated "Wearable Internet".

The Wearable Internet is the powering of personal devices with the Internet of Things capabilities. This extension can be found in the new generation of wearable sensors such as electrocardiograms, cadence and speed sensors, activity monitors such as HOP Extended from HOP Ubiquitous (www.hopu.eu), etc.

These sensors enabled with Internet are able to detect events and anomalies for daily activities, as the accelerometers in a car are able to detect a crash. Therefore, the connectivity to Internet and Cloud Computing platforms are providing a great potential of innovative solutions, where the sensors can go beyond their sense capabilities to enable a data-enabled analysis that can reach actuation and optimization in a wide-range of use-cases and scenarios.

In details, this keynote presents the key evolutions of technologies for wireless communications such as Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth Smart) to be enabled with Internet connectivity (IPv6) through protocols such as 6LoWPAN and GLoWBAL IPv6.

GLoWBAL IPv6 protocol is presented in details, demonstrating the performance of IPv6 and CoAP integration over Bluetooth Smart, with the embedded stack and optimized protocol for constrained devices that we have developed during the last years.

This keynote is also presenting the advantages of the extension of wearable devices with Internet capabilities for a wide range of use-cases covering from experiences in solutions for marketing in events/exhibitions, entertainment in shopping centres, tourism in Smart cities developed in Trento City / Italy, and emergencies in Smart Countries developed with EENA and OMA LWM2M standards.

Životopis:

Antonio Jara received two Master Sciences (Hons. - valedictorian) degrees, a Master in Business Administrations - MBA (Hons), and PhD (Cum Laude).

He is especially focused on the design and development of new protocols for security and mobility for Future Internet of things, which was the topic of my Ph.D. He is working on IPv6 technologies for the Internet of Things in projects such as IoT6, and also Big Data and Knowledge Engineering for Smart Cities in collaboration with projects such as SmartSantander.

He has published over 80 international papers about Internet of Things and holds one patent in the Internet of Things area.
