Dissecting Disease Progression with Spatiotemporal Genomics
Tissue Reassembly with Generative AI

Sanja Vicković – Columbia Sveučilište, New York, SAD, i dr. sc.

Sanja Vicković, PhD, is a Core Faculty Member and Director of the Technology Innovation Lab at the New York Genome Center, with joint appointments at Columbia University and Uppsala University. An accomplished engineer and inventor, Dr. Vicković developed the pioneering spatial transcriptomics technology "Visium," now commercialized by 10x Genomics. Her research spans mathematics, engineering, and biological sciences, with a focus on advancing spatiotemporal genomics to better understand disease progression. Prior to joining NYGC, she was a Wallenberg Fellow at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.

Maria Brbić, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Life Sciences at EPFL, with affiliations to the EPFL AI Center and Institute of Bioengineering. Her research bridges machine learning and computational biology, with a focus on developing innovative AI methods to advance biomedical science. Prior to EPFL, she conducted postdoctoral research at Stanford University and was a member of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub. Among her many honors are a Fulbright Scholarship, MIT Rising Star recognition, and an Early Career Award from SIB. Dr. Brbić’s pioneering work has been supported by prestigious grants, including the SNSF Starting Grant.
