Područje interesa Odjela obuhvaća sva područja biomedicinskog inženjerstva kao interdisciplinarnog područja primjene inženjerskih znanja u medicini i biologiji. Rad članova Odjela uključuje primjenu matematičkih metoda, eksperimentalne postupke, razvoj novih tehnologija te praktične kliničke aplikacije. Odjel također provodi obrazovne i profesionalne aktivnosti te suradnju s gospodarstvom.

Hrvatsko društvo za medicinsku i biološku tehniku (HDMBT) i Odjel za tehniku u medicini i biologiji (EMB18) Hrvatske sekcije IEEE pozivaju vas na predavanje

"The effects of clinical electrochemotherapy on functioning of the heart"

koje će održati prof. dr. sc. Tomaž Jarm, Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za elektrotehniko.

Predavanje će se održati u petak 30. siječnja 2015. u 12:00 sati u Sivoj vijećnici. Predviđeno trajanje predavanja je 30 minuta. Životopis predavača i sažetak predavanja nalaze se u nastavku obavijesti.

Tomaž Jarm was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1968. He received Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Ljubljana in 1999. He is associate professor and researcher at Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana at Department of Biomedical Engineering. The main field of his interest is biomedical engineering. The reasarch activities of Tomaž Jarm are mainly in the area of measurement and processing of biomedical signals, in particular blood perfusion, oxygenation and electrophysiological signals, and in clinical application of high voltage electric pulses for treatment of tumors. The results of his work appeared in 30 peer-reviewed papers published in scientific journals.

 

Synopsis: The use of high voltage electric pulses (electroporation) for treatment of tumors with electrochemotherapy will be presented. The emphasis will be on investigation of the effects of this treatment on functioning of the heart. The results are based on analysis of ECG signals acquired in patients with skin melanoma metastases and patients with colorectal carcinoma metastases in liver.
