Odjel za pouzdanost okuplja stručnjake iz raznih disciplina, kojima je zajedničko nastojanje da učine "stvari" pouzdanima. Aktivnosti odjela u raznim poljima tehnologije povezana su s pojmovima pouzdanosti, raspoloživosti, sigurnosti i povjerenja.

EMSI 2.O, A Software Tool for Modeling and Evaluating Performance and Reliability

Abstract.

A computer system is a network devices working together. Devices are in constant change during the life cycle of the system, especially along the maintenance process. The problem of replacing devices is very common and it is one of the main aims of the performance optimization of a system. Uncertain risk and uncertain reliability as well as performance of the system, are also factors derived from the uncertain basic factors in any computer system. Assuming a system contains several uncertain variables and taking into account some evaluation indexes of the system such as loss function, risk index, uncertainty distribution, hazard distribution, etc., this article deals with the problem of measuring performance, risk and reliability of computer systems simultaneously. A computer system can be evaluated regarding these three factors. For this reason, a tool for the evaluation has been developed. This paper shows an algorithm based on uncertainty multicriteria decision-making that has as inputs the composition of the system as a directed graph (and all the characteristics of any device) and as outputs the degree of the goodness for the system itself. A software tool has also been developed that includes several functionalities for making comparisons between different devices, between the decision of including or not a new unit into the system, measuring the reliability/risk of an isolated device, assessing the reliability/risk of the whole system itself, and evaluating performance of each components and of the whole system. This tool, named EMSI for Evaluation and Modelling of Systems, is already working and has been tested in academic laboratories at Complutense University of Madrid. 

Prof. Victoria Lopez short biography:

Victoria Lopez obtained her PhD in Applied Math to Computing and Artificial Intelligence from Polytechnic University of Madrid. She had also gotten her bachelor degree in Math from Complutense University of Madrid. Her major research interests lie in the areas of mathematical modeling of computer systems, formal engineering and mobile technologies in risk, reliability and performance measurement. She is a member of the Tecnología UCM (www.tecnologiaUCM.es) research group at Informatics Faculty where we research mainly about evaluation and developing of applications for mobile devices and mobile technologies. She serves as reviewer in several journals and belongs to some scientific committees of international conferences.
