Područje djelovanja Odjela za elektroenergetiku uključuje planiranje, istraživanje, razvoj, oblikovanje, primjenu, gradnju, instalaciju i stavljanje u funkciju aparature, opreme, strukture, materijala i sustava za pouzdanu i ekonomičnu proizvodnju, prijenos i distribuciju, pretvorbu, mjerenje i upravljanje električnom energijom. Uključuje razvoj inženjerskih standarada, pružanje informacija i uputstava javnosti i zakonodavcima, kao i tehničko-znanstvene, edukacijske i druge aktivnosti koje pridonose području električne energije ili koriste tehnike ili proizvode vezane uz dato područje.

The Industry Applications Chapter of the IEEE Croatia Section and the Department of Electrical Machines, Drives and Automation of the University of Zagreb - Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing invite you to an online lecture:

"Synchronous Reluctance Motor Drives: Introducing the Design Resource SyR-e and its new Dimension SyReDrive"

which will be given by prof. Gianmario Pellegrino, Ph.D., Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy, online on Thursday, 25 February 2021 using MS Teams platform.

CV:

Gianmario Pellegrino, Ph.D., is Professor of Electrical Machines and Drives at the Politecnico di Torino, Turin, Italy. Dr. Pellegrino is engaged in several research projects with the industry in the fields of electric motor design and advanced control, and one of the authors of the open-source project SyR-e for the design of electrical motors. He was a post-doc researcher at Aalborg University, Denmark, and a visiting fellow at the University of Nottingham, UK, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Dr. Pellegrino is an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, a IEEE Senior Member. He has 45+ IEEE journal papers, eight Best Paper Awards, one international patent and several patent applications. He is a founding member of the PEIC, the Power Electronics Interdepartmental Laboratory established in 2017 at the Politecnico di Torino, and a member of the Advisory Board of PCIM Europe. He is currently the Advisor to the Rector of Politecnico di Torino for the implementation of interdepartmental centers.

Abstract:

The Synchronous Reluctance machine is a popular solution for high efficiency and cost-effective variable speed drives. Despite its growing market share, to date this technology is still mastered by a relatively small number of companies and academic research groups. This relates to both the machine design and control challenges, such as flux barriers design and torque ripple minimization, and control parameter-dependency and calibration effort. Moreover, sensorless control and sensorless identification of the machine parameters are a requirement for most of applications of interest. This lecture will briefly review the state of the art of Synchronous Reluctance motor drives, from the early years to the most recent advancements in machine design, sensorless control and motor commissioning techniques. The core of this lecture is to present the open-source platform SyR-e as an accessible and easy-to-use tool for initial machine design and finite-element identification. Finally, the new tool SyReDrive for automatic generation of the electric drive control model and sensorless control code will be introduced for the first time.
